Getting Art Printed on Metal

Friday, February 1st, 2008

I found a company that will print art onto metal, BooksmartStudio According to their site they will print sizes from 8.5″ x 11″ up to 20″ x 84″. That’s big.

I’m sure there are a number of artists that would like to have their art on metal like the old time advertising signs or tintype photos. This could be an option for them.

What are PODs?

Print on Demand services (PODs) are companies that stock blank products and print a design or text when products are ordered from them.  PODs print all kinds of products:  Books, posters, photos, clothing, mugs, tiles, skateboards, and much more are among the things they print.

 How are PODs used?

Anyone that wants to publish a book or make a t-shirt can upload their text or design to a POD and have as many or as few copies printed either for themselves or for sale.  So….  If you want a special gift for dad on father’s day, you can create your own unique gift with a POD.

What about selling stuff with a POD?

Many PODs offer stores or sites where you can sell your art or prose.  They take care of the printing, shipping, and billing for you.  Usually you can set a markup for the items you are selling.  A great way to sell art without all the hassles.  Most PODs don’t actively promote you stuff even when it’s listed on their site, so if you want to make lots of sales you will have to actively promote your stuff.
